To solve downtown decline in small and medium local cities, The various policy about city environment maintenance such as alleyway revision, parking lot hold, commercial power activation was attempted. These methods were differentiated with other areas for community business and special quality of the area, and so, first of all, it is necessary to figure out category of business that is continuing steadily to maintain locality with this sense of place. Therefore, this study is aimed to examine distribution of business type of 1968, 1991, 2010 in Seong-An Gil of Cheong-ju through literature, interview of the longest-term householders, photo details and specially focused on functional change of 1st floor shops. The types of 1st-floor shops are classified with general merchandise, apparel, medical, bank and restaurant. The present shops of them are 'Dong-kwang lasa', ‘jung-geum dang’, ‘cheong-ju pharmacy ’ The category of business were able to identify historicity and placeness in Seong-An Gil, will promote revitalization through recycle of business.

도심쇠퇴를 보이고 있는 구도심지에서는 공동화 현상을 해결하기 위해서 관공서 및 주요업종의 유치, 주차장 확보, 상권 활성화 등 도심 재생을 위한 여러 가지 방안이 시도되고 있다. 도심기능의 활성화를 위해서는 도심 상업지역의 특성에 따른 지역이 지니고 있는 지역성과 장소성이 반영된 업종을 파악하는 것이 우선적으로 진행되어야 할 필요가 있다. 이에 따라, 본 연구는 청주 도심지 내에 위치한 유서깊은 성안길을 대상으로 1960년, 1991년, 2010년 현재의 시기로 구분하여 문헌, 인터뷰, 사진을 1층 상점가 중심으로 업종분포의 실태와 추이를 살펴보았다. 1층 업종의 분류는 잡화, 의류,음식점,은행,의료점, 가전및전자제품으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 현존하는 상점들은 ‘동광라사’,‘정금당’,‘청주약국’이 있었다. 이 업종들은 역사성과 장소성을 가지고 있으며, 추후 업종의 재생을 통하여 상권활성화가 더욱 촐진될 수 있을 것이라 생각된다.
