- The purpose of this study is to consider architectural characteristics of the modern korean traditional houses since the opening of its port in 1876 to 1960. The research object was selected by conducting a literature survey and a field survey on December 2011. It was to understand the current situation of the modern korean traditional houses by carrying out an experimental survey on the buildings for the study on January, February, April, August, 2012. In addition, transformation of the modern korean traditional houses was analyzed by conducting an interview survey for residents and its origin was estimated. Architectural characteristics of the modern korean traditional houses in Gijang-gun were examined based on this points. As a result, transformation such as extension and internal remodeling of the modern korean traditional houses in Gijang-Gun is being made by changes in lifestyle. It means expansion of housing scale, stocked kitchen remodeling, internalization of toilet, change of heating system. Architectural characteristics of the modern korean traditional houses in Gijang-Gun are various plan types, the development of the Toenmaru and internal spacing, double layered room, the development of the kitchen space and storage space.

- 본 연구는 1876년 개항 이후부터 1960년까지 건축된 기장지역 근대한옥 안채의 평면구성상의 특징을 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 문헌조사와 2011년 12월 현지조사를 실시하여 연구대상을 선정하였다. 2012년 1월, 2월, 4월, 8월에 연구대상 건물에 대한 실측조사를 실시하여 근대 한옥의 현황을 파악하였다. 또한 거주자에 대한 면담조사를 실시하여 근대한옥의 변용을 분석하고, 원형을 추정하였다. 이를 토대로 기장지역 근대한옥 안채의 건축적 특징을 고찰하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 1)기장지역 근대한옥은 생활양식의 변화에 의해 증축 및 내부개조 등의 변형이 이루어지고 있다. 그것은 주택 규모의 확장, 입식 부엌으로의 개조, 화장실의 내부와 및 설비의 현대화, 난방방식의 변화 등이다. 2)기장지역 근대한옥 안채의 건축적 특징은 다양한 평면 형태와 실 구성, 툇마루의 발달과 내부공간화, 겹집화, 부엌공간의 발달, 수납공간의 발달이다.
