- Anti-microbial activities of Terminalia chebula Retz. extract was investigated by formulation, such as skin lotion, milk lotion for 4 weeks. Control contained no preservative, test group contained 0.5% Terminalia chebula Retz. extract and 1% Terminalia chebula Retz. extract and Positive control contained paraben and imidazolidinyl urea. To determine the anti-microbial activity of this extract, the 4 germs such as Staphylococcus aures, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans were used. The test groups showed significant anti-microbial activities against the 4 germs at 1 and 2 weeks as compared with control. Anti-microbial activities of these extracts were similar to positive control. It is possible to develop as natural preservative in cosmetics.
