The gas accidents have been increased consistently with an elevated consumption of gas and recent developments in gas industry. Most gas explosions are caused by LNG(Liquefied natural gas) and LPG(Liquefied petroleum gas) which the accident is unable to happen by themselves without oxygen. However, it can be possible for them in certain conditions to become very volatile. In this study, we report the case studies of unnatural death investigations on gas explosion by city gas and LPG occurred in apartments and investigate the causes of accidents from the scenes of gas explosion and unnatural deaths through the postmortem examinations.

최근 산업 발달과 더불어 국내 가스 산업도 양적인 팽창을 거듭해 오고 있으며 가스 사용량 증가와 함께 그에 따른 사고도 지속적으로 발생하고 있다. 대부분의 폭발은 LNG(Liquefied natural gas)와 LPG(Liquefied petroleum gas)에 의한 가스폭발이 발생할 수 있으며 LNG와 LPG는 자체 산소를 함유하고 있지 않아 순수한 상태에서는 폭발이 일어나지 않지만 폭발이 일어날 수 있는 조건에서는 폭발할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 아파트 내 도시가스 폭발과 LPG 가스 폭발에 의한 사망사건 사례를 통해 가스폭발에 따른 현장 상황파악 및 화재원인조사와 검시에 대하여 고찰하고자 한다.
