This article has been suggested that hypnotic techniques may have the potential to enhance eyewitness memory in forensic investigations. The main alleged feature of hypnosis, which has led many to advocate its use in forensic contexts, is its ability to enhance memory. hypnosis has also been advocated as a truth-seeking device, a technique to evaluate a defendant's sanity, an aid in the preparation of witnesses or parties for trial, a means of detecting malingering, an aid in obtaining admissions and confessions, and as a defense in criminal cases. In cases of sexual assault, The other potential use of hypnosis in the forensic context is to help alleviate the stress and distress in having witnessed or been victimized by a crime. A skillful practitioner can help lessen the trauma by easing the person into a different frame of mind, either by helping the person shift his or her focus away from what has happened to another experience, or by helping the person shift from one uncomfortable dimension of the experience to another that is relatively neutral.
