Pathological phenomena of modern society like rich-poor gap, alienation from others, has been rampant in our society. And increasing habitual larceny and larceny recidivism has made a lot of social problems. But there was a lack of academic effort to alleviate such a problem based on criminology or therapeutic treatment. This article involved defining of related concept, review of advanced research, making theoretical frame, analysis of current actual condition, arousing of seriousness with kleptomania problems. Through analyzing statistical data reported by the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, it took a general view of habitual larceny variation. Furthermore, it dealt with reasons of kleptomania and habitual larceny. Additionally, it sought for therapeutic solution to alleviate kleptomania problem. Various therapeutic treatments was brought out, for instance, counseling, conjoint family therapy, therapy connected with neighborhood community, art therapy, play therapy, music therapy. Focusing on documentary researching method and domestic review of advanced research could be mentioned as limitations or flaws, but it has academic contributions and meaningfulness considering to construct the base of future studies, despite lack of related research.

최근 수년간 사행성 산업이 지속적으로 확장되고 있으며, 이러한 확장 추세는 당분간 지속될 것으로 예상된다. 그러나 성장을 거듭하는 우리나라의 도박 산업은 일반 레저산 업과 달리 사회에 미치는 긍정적인 영향 외에 사회적 폐해도 큰 것으로 알려져 있다. 이 연구에서는 도박 중독의 원인을 신경생물학적 원리, 심리ㆍ성격적 원인, 도박의 내재적 원인, 사회ㆍ환경적 원인 등을 통해 살펴보았다. 또한 도박 문제의 현황은 산 업적 측면, 범죄 관련 측면, 도박이 사회에 미치는 손실 규모 등을 통해 진단하였다. 나아가 도박의 치료적 처우 방안을 도출하였는데, 약물 치료, 인지행동 치료, 자조 집 단 치료, 치료공동체 과정, 가족 치료, 종교 치료적 방안 등을 소개하였다. 복잡한 요인이 얽힌 병적 도박 중독 문제를 해결하는 거의 유일한 방법은 적절한 치료 방법의 개발과 지속적인 적용일 것이다. 병적 도박 중독의 원인과 유형이 매우 다양한 만큼, 그에 걸맞는 다양한 치료방법이 개발ㆍ적용되는 것이 주요할 것이다. 이 연구는 많은 한계를 지니고 있지만, 추후 연구의 필요성을 시사한 측면에서 의 의를 찾을 수 있다고 본다. 앞으로 보다 많은 관련 연구가 수행되어 도박 문제 해결 에 기여할 수 있기를 기대해본다.
