Abstract : The purpose of this study is to analyze theoretical background and develop a criminal route analysis method at school exterior space especially from the perspective of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design strategies. Natural Surveillance and Territoriality Enhancement of CPTED strategies feasible for school exterior spaces were examined as the theoretical background for analysis method development. The implementation of the suggested Criminal Route Analysis Method included the network analysis technology of navigation graph derived from school building and its exterior area. As an algorithm for finding criminal route, this study adopted the search process for the shortest path in general weighted network. This study also computed the weight factor, which was measured from visibility between nodes on building windows and nodes at school exterior spaces, for choosing a movement from an analysis node to one of the adjacent nodes. Finally, the developed method showed the applicability of criminal route analysis through analysing a school case.
