Abstract : This study was designed to investigate the relationship between covert narcissism, anger rumination and anger expression of middle school students and to study whether anger rumination is mediated in the relation between covert narcissism and anger expression. A survey was conducted on 571 middle school students using several measures that were developed in order to assess each student's level of covert narcissism, anger rumination and anger expression. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis was suggested by Baron & Kenny(1986). The result were as follows. First, there was a significant positive correlation among variables such as covert narcissism, maladaptive anger expression and anger rumination of middle school students. Second, anger rumination was partially mediated the relationship between covert narcissism and maladaptive anger expression. Also, sub-factors, angry afterthoughts, understanding of causes and thoughts of revenge each had mediating in the relation between covert narcissism and maladaptive anger expression. This study was suggested that it was necessary to focus on anger rumination as well as covert narcissism when counseling middle school students who were suffering from maladaptive anger expression. Based on these results, implications and limitations were discussed.
