This study analyzes characteristics and determinants of the spatial distribution in Cultural Contents Industries. As a “new revitalization strategy”, policies of cultural industries have been promoted since the late 1990s. Industrial characteristics and its conditions are different so far as the range of cultural industries is broad. Moreover, the industrial characteristics and the causes of spatial distribution are highly controversial because results could be different according to how the range of cultural economies and industries is set and classified. Therefore, this study analyzes Culture Contents Industries that have similar industrial characteristics and conditions. As a result of analyzing the spatial distribution, it is followed by that production department of Cultural Contents Industries have been concentrated to Seoul Metropolitan Area. As a result of analyzing determinants that affect the LQ of total department in Cultural Contents Industries, it is followed by that it is influenced by demographic factors. While, the LQ of production department is influenced by industrial structure and its environment like development of producer services, existence of major companies, etc.

본 연구는 문화콘텐츠산업의 공간분포와 입지요인을 분석하였다. 새로운 지역개발전략으로 중앙정부와 지자체의 문화산업 지원정책이 확대되어 왔다. 그러나 문화산업이 광범위하고, 그런 만큼 산업특성과 입지조건이 상이할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 문화콘텐츠산업을 분석대상으로 설정하고, 생산체계별․규모별․지역별 동 산업의 공간분포 특성과 입지요인을 경험적으로 고찰하였다. 연구결과, 문화콘텐츠산업의 지역별 특화도는 생산체계별․규모별로 상이하게 나타났다. 제작부문, 특히 사업체 규모가 큰 제작업체일수록 서울과 서울 근교의 극히 일부 지역에서 특화되고 있었다. 문화콘텐츠산업의 입지요인 또한 생산체계별․규모별로 상이한 바, 제작부문의 특화도는 생산자서비스의 발달, 메이저 기업의 존재와 같은 지역의 경제구조, 산업환경에서 영향을 받고 있었다.
