- Art objects in buildings create a new urban appearance and atmosphere aesthetically and environmentally. Particularly the importance is getting stressed these days in the area of public design as they improve street appearance and affect the urban life quality for citizen. The quantitative increase of art objects in buildings improves the urban environment aesthetically by providing aesthetic enjoyment and comfort to pedestrians and residents. However, arts objects in buildings are understood poorly as the ornaments of buildings, which has resulted un-harmonization with surrounding environment and buildings by installing inappropriate art objects in order to conduct the functions described above. In addition, the situation becomes worsened in conjunction with financial issue as clients tend to reduce the cost. This results that the inappropriate art objects in buildings make unwanted aesthetic problem rather than any positive role. Therefore, it is urgently necessary to provide a rational standard in order to assess the art objects in buildings quantitatively and qualitatively. The research provides the preliminary data though the analysis of assessment factors of art objects in buildings, and investigates the present circumstance of installed art objects in a city. This approach can reveal any problems involved in selection and installment of the art objects and in the end suggest fundamental data for developing the standard of the assessment.

- 현재 도시가로경관 개선을 위한 건축물 미술장식품에 대한 정량적인 평가기준 설정에 대한 연구를 통해 도심 속 건축물 미술장식품의 재정비 및 공공미술과 접목시킬 수 있는 방안이 시급히 요청된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 건축물 미술장식품 평가요인을 통하여 심의 및 선정에 기초적 자료를 제시하고 도시 공간 속 무분별하게 설치되어 있는 미술장식품에 관하여 평가 및 실태조사를 수행한 후 문제점을 도출하고 해결방안을 모색하여 실제 미술장식품 선정 및 설치를 위한 적용 가능한 근거를 제공하고자 한다.
