Lots of country in the world drive the development policy and strategy for mega economic region to strengthen national competitiveness. Above all China has established more detail comprehensive plan for these mega economic region and carried into effect it's action program and policy. The overall purpose of this study is to research the development plan for mega economic regions in China and suggest it's implications. For this study, first of all I review the current development policy for mega economic regions in China. In the second part, I analyzes some development plans for mega economic region in China such as Jang-river triangle region, Pearl river triangle region, Jangil-do mega economic region so on. Some implications suggested in this study is as follows; First, Korea's mega economic region also can be develop as a globally competitive growth poles through building the closed network system between main city and peripheral area. Second, the spacial strategy corresponding with the development plan for Jangil-do region of the Tomun river valley is requested as a regional policy to strengthen the competitiveness and potential power of Korea. Third, the green and sustainable development strategy is also required to enhance the economic growth in the future.

중국 정부는 2008년 12월에 “주강삼각주 광역권역 개혁발전계획요강(2008-2020)”과 2010년 5월에 “국무원의 장강삼각주권역의 개혁개방의 심화와 경제사회발전에 관한 지도의견”에 의거 “장강삼각주광역권개발계획”을 수립하였다. 그리고 최근 동북부 지역의 “장길도광역권역 협력개발계획”을 수립, 발표하였다. 이들 광역권계획에는 대체로 1) 지리적 입지와 기능 2) 핵심 산업분포 및 발전전략 3) 지역협력 및 연계산업의 특징 그리고 4) 대외개방에 대한 구체적 내용을 담고 있다. 이뿐 아니라 광역권내 지역 간 정합성을 강화하기 위한 교통체계구축과 도·농간통합발전계획, 사회보장체계와 행정관리체제개혁 등에 관한 구체적 방안 등이 제시되어 있다. 본 논문은 이와 같은 중국의 광역권역개발계획의 주요내용과 특성을 분석하고 우리나라의 광역권개발정책에 주는 영향과 시사점을 제시하는데 연구의 목적을 둔다. 이를 위해 중국의 국토개발정책과 광역경제권 정책동향 분석, 중국의 광역경제권 개발계획의 주요내용과 특성에 대한 분석을 주된 연구의 내용적 범위로 하고 있으며, 연구방법은 문헌연구로 이루어졌다.
