The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship among character strengths, self-acceptance and happiness, and to examine the mediating effects of self-acceptance on the relation between character strengths and happiness. For this research, the survey was responded from 391 college students. The used instruments were short form of Values in Action Inventory of Strengths(VIA-IS) Scale, Self-Acceptance Scale, and Satisfaction With Life Scale(SWLS). Correlational analysis among character strengths, self-acceptance and happiness is conducted, and Structural Equational Modeling(SEM) is used to validate mediating effects of self-acceptance on the relation between character strengths and happiness. All of analyses were carried out by using SPSS 17.0 program and AMOS 18.0 program. The results are as follow. Frist, the study suggested that there was a significant positive correlation among of character strengths, self-acceptance and happiness. Second, As validation result of mediating effect of self-acceptance on relation between character strengths and happiness, self-acceptance mediates these, and the partial mediation is more suitable than complete mediation. The Mediating effect between character strengths and happiness, that have been researched a lot recently, is found out due to this study, and the importance of self-acceptance, that contribute to increase life satisfaction, provides implications of counseling intervention that make good use of character strengths.
