The systematic and synthetic evaluation indicator on political leader is necessary for us to distinguish a great political leader. Especially, former study on the image of politician has suggested the necessity of emprical study on the image of politician with the independent variables of demographic variances like sex, political tendency(radical, conservative), region, etcs... . This is the study to see the relationship between the independent demographic variables like sex, political tendency(radical, conservative), region, and dependent variables like the attitude of university students on the image of president Barak Obama of united states of America. One of the result of this study shows that the same political tendency group(radical) of university students has more positive attitude, toward foreign political leader(radical) like president Barak Obama, than the other political tendency group (conservative) of university students, in President Barak Obama’s all images that are evaluated.(Probablity=0.05, sampling error 95% ± 5.22%) So, we can have the research question whether this finding can be generalized or not, through the sustainable emprical study on the image of politician. I hope that this study can contribute to invent the more synthetic and universal indicator, to evaluate the images of politcian, to distinguish the great political leader.

정치 지도자에 대한 체계적이고, 종합적인 평가 지표는 훌륭한 지도자를 선별하는데 매우 필요하다. 특히, Q 방법론을 활용한 기존 정치인 이미지 연구(김 혜성, 2010)에서는, 향후 정치 지도자의 이미지에 대한 성별, 지역, 정치적 성향과 같은 변인을 독립 변인으로한 계량적인 연구의 필요성을 제시하고 있는바, 이번 연구는 이러한 학자의 제언을 받아 들여, 인구 통계학적인 변인(성별/거주 지역)과 정치적 성향(진보/보수)을 독립 변인으로 하고, 미국 대통령 버락 오바마의 이미지에 대한 대학생들의 태도를 종속 변인으로 하여, 두 변인 사이의 관계를 살펴본 연구이다. 이번에 발견된 연구 결과 중의 하나인 “같은 성향의 대학생 집단(진보 집단)은, 다른 성향의 대학생 집단(보수 집단) 보다, 다른 나라의, 같은 정치적 성향의 지도자(진보 성향 지도자)의 검증된 모든 이미지에 대해, 더 긍정적이라는 연구 결과(P=0.05 수준, 표본 오차 95%±5.22%)”가, 향후 지속된 연구를 통해 일반화도 가능할 수 있겠는가?라는 학문적인 물음을 던져 준다. 향후, 이번 연구가 향후 정치 지도자의 이미지에 대한 보다 종합적이고, 보다 보편적인 평가 지표를 만들어 내는데 기여할 수 있기를 바란다.
