Since the data collected by the nodes of WSN are sensitive and vulnerable to attack, there’ a need of making the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) immune to attacks. Most of the researchers have come up with security solution to WSN based on layered approach. Layered approach has noticeable flaws like ‘edundant’security or ‘nflexible’security solutions. In this paper a new security scheme is proposed based on the concept of cross layer design methodology. Outline on the existing cross layer security schemes are also presented. The proposed approach doesn’ claim to be immune to all the security attacks but this new approach certainly gives a new direction towards WSN security. The cross layer security framework has been tested with three important application types of WSN.
