The purpose of this research is to find out how to improve IT industries of the Dongnam economic area including Busan in the age of the digital economy. The result can be summarized as follows. First of all, IT-service industries would be expected to play a great role in economic development in the future compared to IT-manufacturing industries. Second, it would be better for the Dongnam economic area to develop IT-services industries rather than IT-manufacturing industries. Third, Busan, among the Dongnam economic area, would be the best candidate to develop IT-service industries since it has relative competitive advantage compared to Ulsan and Gyeongnam. Fourth, telecommunications services and software services would be the best candidate to develop IT-service industries in Busan.

본고는 부산을 포함한 동남권의 IT산업 발전방향을 투입산출분석과 특화도분석 방법을 사용하여 연구한 것으로 그 결과는 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 1) 현재는 IT제조업을 기반으로 IT서비스산업이 실질적인 경제성장을 이끄는 시기에 접어들었다. 2) 부산을 포함한 동남권의 경우 IT제조업보다는, 생산파급 효과가 더 크고 고용유발 효과도 더 큰 IT서비스산업을 육성하는 것이 바람직하다. 3) 특화도분석과 상대적 비교우위를 검토할 때 동남권 중에서도 부산이 IT서비스산업을 발전시키기에 상대적으로 유리한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 4) 부산의 IT서비스산업을 발전시키기 위해서는 동남권 전체의 동반발전이라는 관점에서 정보통신서비스와 소프트웨어산업을 발전시키는 것이 바람직하다.
