Korean Journal of Linguistics, 36-1, 117-131. This work presents a part of the general project that aims at establishing a concept-based children vocabulary. For this general project, we first studied on the concept distribution and conceptual depth of 112 lexical units of Korean Picture Vocabulary Test for children from 2 years to 8 years 11 months by using the conceptual system of KAIST lexical semantic network(Choi & Bae, 2004). Through the work, the corresponding concept of each lexical unit was matched and we could observe their distribution in a conceptual system. In the conceptual depth analysis, difficulty level of lexical unit and depth was positively correlated. However, this positive correlation could not be applied for sister terms having the same concept: ‘머리카락(hair)’ and ‘모발(hair)’. Furthermore, this work can be used for establishing a concept-based vocabulary for children, especially for the language therapy for developmental language disorder.
