Abstract : This study focus on the developing design guides for youth centers according to analyze design guides of Dependent Youth Activity Center in U.S. There are some problems on the type, developing plan, and criteria of the youth center in Korea. Therefore, there should be a plan for youth facilities specified in laws to have facilities to perform youth activities of special purposes. In particular, we should prepare for the design guide of youth facilities. A youth center serves the dual purpose of accommodating unstructured social interaction among different age groups and providing instructional classes all in a safe, supervised environment. This drives the facility layout and functional space adjacencies. For this reason, the design guide of youth facilities should be established and provide assistance in understanding the programmatic needs of the youth, facilities programming procedures, and planning and design considerations and principles for use in developing dependent youth activity facilities. The guide not only have to states basic design criteria, but also provides means by which the user can apply the criteria in individual ways to respond to local requirements.
