The purpose of this study was to present a model of exercise program for promotion of muscular strength and prevention of decreasing of muscular function, and to present the available methods for increasing the quality of life for olders. Male olders aged 65∼70 were randomly assigned to three groups: Exp 1, Exp 2, and control group. Exp 1 group performed the exercise program consisted of stretching and aerobic exercise. Exp 2 group performed the exercise program consisted of stretching and resistance exercise with elastic band. Both exercise program were applied for 9 weeks(3 times per week, 50 min. per time). Control group carried on the daily life without performing the exercise program. Chair stand, arm curl, chair sit and reach, 8 foot up and go test were measured repeatedly before experiment, and on the 3rd week, 6th week, and 9th week after experiment for all subjects. As a result, no significance was shown in control group. The abilities in chair stand, arm curl, 8 foot up and go test were significantly increased in Exp 1, and Exp 2 groups. The ability in chair sit & reach test was significantly increased in Exp 2 group. Changing rates of Exp 2 group in chair stand, and arm curl test were more increased than those of Exp 1 group. In conclusion the effective exercise program should be intervened for promoting physical fitness of olders, and the increasing of muscular strength was preceded the increasing of flexibility. Therefore it was suggested that the resistance exercise should be added to the exercise program developed for olders.

현대사회에 있어서 신체활동 연구의 주요 탐구과제는 ‘신체활동을 통한 교육’으로부터 ‘인간의 기본적인 움직임’을 목표로 하는 스포츠적인 움직임을 중심으로 한 생명 활동의 개념으로 급속히 변화되고 있는 추세이다. 이러한 환경변화에 대응하기 위하여 본학회는 ‘체육’적인 요소에서 ‘스포츠’적인 요소를 중심으로 한 학문적 정체성을 견고히 하고, 정기적인 학술지 발간과 학술활동을 통해 한국스포츠츠 문화의 발전과 학문적인 발전에 기여하는데 그 목적이 있다.
