This paper explores the implementation of United Nations resolutions as they apply to the international standardization of maritime feature names. It looks at the role of the United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names (UNGEGN) and other scientists in recognizing problems that remain with the implementing of some of these resolutions. Proposals for a new approach are put forward to encourage more of the successes already achieved. This may entail
engaging scientists recruited from the natural and social sciences into the existing geographical and linguistic divisions and working groups of the UNGEGN who deal with the formulation of such resolutions. Additionally, to revitalize a new working group focusing exclusively on maritime feature names. Such a task team drawn from divisions and groups, or any other structure necessary, may supplement thework of the experts. These newly formed structures should be supported to continue their valuable work between sessions and conferences of the UN to concentrate on drafting new resolutions to circumvent stalemates that exist on the standardization of maritime names in dispute, and to share their valuable knowledge on maritime names with the international community through publications and other media outputs.

이 논문은 해상명의 국제적 표준을 적용시키는 것과 같은 국제 연합의 결의안 이행에 관한 것이다. 지명에 대한 국제적 전문가집단의 역할과 해상명 결의 및 이행의 문제점을 인식하는 과학자에 대해 살펴볼 것이다. 새로운 접근에 대한 제안은 이미 성취된것보다 더욱 많은 것을 이루기 위한 것이다.과학자들을 자연과학,사회과학의 분야로부터 지리적 ․ 언어적인 결의안과 같은 공식을 다루는 UNGEGN같은 조직에서 일하도록 끌어들일 것이다. 또한 해상명에 관해 상반된 입장을 가진 조직들이 다시 나타나게 될
것이다. 어떠한 부서나 조직으로부터 나온 사람들로 구성된 팀은 전문적인 일을 수행할 것이다.이렇게 새롭게 형성된 구조는UN의 회의 기간과 그 외 기간 중에 논쟁거리가 되는 해상명 표준에 관한 문제에 새로운 해결책을 내놓고, 그들의 지식을 출판물과 미디어 등의 매체를 통해 국제적으로 알리는 등 가치있는 일을 할 것이다.
