This study aims to identify the historical changes and the architectural characteristics of the old Jeollanamdo provincial office and its neighborhood. Jeollanamdo provincial office was first established in 1910. During the Japanese Imperialism and the modern period of Korea, many buildings were constructed, extended and demolished. And this area has become the symbolic stages of many important events which aroused in the history of this province and in that of Korea. Now, the meaning and function of this area is in changing process. Therefore, it is very meaningful, to identify the historical changes and the architectural characteristics of this area, for the conservation and the reuse of the old Jeollanamdo provincial office and its neighborhood buildings.
