Damage Assessment Algorithm for Damaged Structural Member

Many damage detection methods to be categorized as dynamic and static approaches have been developed. This study considers an analytical algorithm for static damage identification. Utilizing the measured displacements as displacement constraints to restrict the static behaviour
of damaged member and minimizing the difference between the undamaged and damaged displacements, this study presents a static approach for the damage identification and provides design plots for damage detection and non-destructive test method by plotting the displacements
normalized with respect to the optimal measuring point. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed method are illustrated through an application.
