This study examines the paratexts of a feminist translator through the lens of Judith Butler’s concept of gender performativity, exploring how a translator’s gender identity and ethical positioning are performatively constituted within the discursive spaces surrounding the translated text. Focusing on the Korean translator Lee Min-kyung and her translation of The Kingdom of Women (2018), this research analyzes the translator‘s preface and interviews as primary paratextual materials. The findings reveal that gender performativity is not a static declaration but is instead formed through repeated discursive practices, such as the narrativization of translation motives, the denaturalization of gender norms, and the justification of the ethics and responsibilities of translation. These practices redefine the translator not as a neutral linguistic mediator, but as an active feminist subject. By conceptualizing paratexts as performative arenas, this study shifts the analytical focus from the translated product to the translating subject, thereby expanding the theoretical and methodological horizons of feminist translation studies.
