기후 위기와 코로나19를 경험하는 동안 한국시는 인간이라는 자기의식에 대 한 해체와 전환을 촉구하며 비인간에 대한 상상력을 표출해왔다. 동식물은 물론 자연과 환경으로 간주되었던 비인간 행위자의 등장은 기후 위기 시대 인류의 당면 과제를 환기할 뿐 아니라 생태문학의 전환을 요구하는 현상으로 해석된다. 이와 같은 현상을 전제로 이 논문은 2020년 전후 한국시에 나타난 비인간에 대한 상상력과 재현 전략을 분석하고 이를 토대로 생태시의 전망을 도출하고자 했다. 먼저 시에 나타난 신체성에 주목하여 ‘동물 되기‘ 전략을 분석했다. 인간의 정체성을 넘어서고자 하는 ‘동물 되기’는 끊임없이 유동하고 생성되는 신체 이 미지를 생산함으로써 주체화를 지연시키며 주체를 정체화하지 않도록 만드는 재현 전략이다. 이에 비해 반려종의 실천으로서 ‘함께 되기’는 이질적인 것들과 뒤얽히며 차이와 연결을 중심으로 세계를 재구성해나가기 위한 재현 전략이다. 끝으로 의인화는 인간의 삶에 개입하는 비인간의 행위성을 세계에 대한 참여로 받아들이기 위한 재현 전략이다. 기후 위기 시대에 이른 한국 생태시는 21세기 생태시의 전망을 모색하는 시 점에 이르렀다. 비인간에 대한 시적 상상력과 재현 전략은 다음과 같은 생태시 의 전망을 도출하게 한다. 첫째, 신체성을 매개로 인간의 주체성을 벗어나 다른 존재 되기를 시도하는 시. 둘째, 주체와 연결된 타자성에 관심을 기울이며 분리 불가능한 관계로서 반려종의 관계와 윤리를 탐색하는 시. 셋째, 비인간을 생태 계는 물론 인간의 사회 정치적 현실의 참여자로 인정하고 그들과 함께 민주적 공동체를 창안하고자 하는 시. 이와 같은 생태시의 전망은 지금까지 인간의 관 심 밖에 있던 비인간의 출현으로 야기된 것이지만 그렇다고 비인간이 무엇인가 를 말하거나 그들을 규명하고자 하는 시도만은 아니다. 역설적이게도 기후 위기 에 대응하며 촉발된 비인간에 대한 상상력과 재현 전략은 비인간을 삶의 조건 으로 삼되 비인간과의 관계 속에서 다시 정의되는 인간이 무엇인가를 묻는다. 지금의 생태시는 반려적 존재로서 인간을 재정의하고, 지구생명공동체 안에서 공존의 윤리와 실천의 길을 찾는 과제 앞에 있다.

South Korean poetry around 2020, having experienced the climate crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, has expanded its imagination toward the non-human, calling for the deconstruction and transformation of human self-consciousness. The emergence of non-human agents— including animals, plants, and elements once relegated to “nature” or “the environment‘—not only highlights the urgent task of integrating nonhuman existence into the conditions of life but also demands a shift in ecocriticism. Against this backdrop, this study analyzes the imagination and representational strategies of the non-human as manifested in Korean poetry around 2020. First, focusing on the materiality of the body, this paper analyzes the strategy of “becoming-animal.” Going beyond human identity, “becoming-animal” is a representational strategy that delays subjectification and prevents the fixation of the subject by producing fluid and generative bodily images. In contrast, “becoming-with” as a practice of companion species is a strategy for reconstructing the world through differences and connectivity by intertwining with heterogeneous beings. Finally, anthropomorphism is examined as a representational strategy that accepts the agency of the non-human as an active participation in the world, integrating them as stakeholders in human life. Having evolved through the critique of industrial civilization and the expansion of life-centered thought, Korean ecopoetry in the era of climate crisis has reached a point at which it explores new prospects for 21st-century ecopoetry. The poetic imagination and representational strategies regarding the non-human lead to the following outlooks: first, poetry that attempts to transcend human subjectivity through embodied experience; second, poetry that explores the continuous relationship of companion species as inseparable entities, focusing on the otherness connected to the subject; and third, poetry that recognizes the non-human as participants in socio-political realities and seeks to envision new forms of community with them. While these prospects are triggered by the emergence of the non-human—previously marginalized by human interests—they do not merely attempt to define what the non-human is. Paradoxically, the imagination and representational strategies emerging from the climate crisis imply an expectation for a redefined notion of the “human” shaped through its relationship with the nonhuman.
