부안군 상서면은 본래 조선시대 부안 읍내 서쪽 위에 두었던 상서면(上西面)을 중심으로 출발하였다. 현재는 관할 하에 7개 법정리로 구성되었는데 그 중 하나가 감교리로 아래에 감교, 장전, 청등, 회시, 봉은, 유정의 6개 행정 마을을 이룬다. 일반적으로 마을의 지명은 18세기의 『호구총수』, 19세기 ｢1872년 지방지도｣ 그리고 일제 시기의 『지방행정구역명칭일람󰡕(1912), 『지지조서』(1917)를 거쳐 현대의 『한국지명총람』(1981) 등을 연결하여 이해한다. 부안의 경우 ｢1872년 지방지도｣를 남기지 않아 지명 확정에 어려움이 많았는데 『홍재일기』(1866~1911)의 발견으로 이를 극복할 수 있게 되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 상서면 감교리의 마을사 구축 일환으로 『홍재일기』의 관련 지명 기록을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 통해 부안의 역사적 전통과 연관된 주요 지명적 요소를 다수 확인할 수 있다. 특히 개암사와 우금암의 경우 부흥백제국과 관련하여 중요한 자원임에도 김유신 중심의 허황된 전승에 따른 지명 파생의 문제점이 제기되었고, 유정치란 지명도 정유재란 때 호벌치 전투와 관련하여 동일한 지명으로 보는 문제가 지속되었다. 그러므로 상서면 감교리의 주요 지명과 주변적 요소의 검토는 부안의 역사・문화적 콘텐츠 구축에 중요한 위치를 차지한다는 점에서 좀 더 입체적인 접근과 해석이 필요하다.

Buan Sangseo-myeon originally started from Sangseo-myeon(上西面), which was located to the west of Buan-eup during the Joseon Dynasty. Currently, Sangseo-myeon is comprised of seven legal villages under its jurisdiction, one of which is Gamgyo-ri, which is comprised of six administrative villages: Gamgyo, Jangjeon, Cheongdeung, Hoesi, Bongeun, and Yujeong. Generally, the place names of villages are understood by connecting them to the 18th century 『Hoguchongsu』, the 19th century ｢Local Map of 1872｣, the Japanese colonial period 『Catalogue of Administrative Names of Korean Empire』(1912) and ｢Jijijoseo｣(1917), and the modern 『The Dictionary of Korean Place Names』(1981). In the case of Buan, there were many difficulties in confirming place names because there was no ｢Local Map of 1872｣, but this was overcome with the discovery of the 『Hongjaeilgi』(1866-1911). Therefore, this study aims to examine the place name records related to Gamgyo-ri in the Hongjae Diary as part of the construction of a village history. Through this, we can confirm many key place-name elements related to Buan's historical traditions. In particular, in the case of Gaeamsa Temple and Ugeumam, although they are important resources related to the revival of Baekje, the problem of deriving place names based on a false legend centered around Kim Yu-sin was raised. And the problem of viewing the place name Yujeongchi as the same place name in relation to the Battle of Hobeolchi during the Imjin War persisted. Therefore, a more three-dimensional approach and interpretation is needed to examine the major place names and surrounding elements of Gamgyo-ri, as they occupy an important position in establishing Buan's historical and cultural content.
