지난 2월 한국교회 설교학의 초석을 놓았던 그가 하나님의 부름을 받았다(2024년 2월 14일). 한국인으로서, 한국인 설교학자로서 한국교회와 함께 설교학이라는 분야를 개척하면서 평생을 헌신했던 그의 학문적 삶과 공헌은 설교학 분야뿐만 아니라 한국 교회사에서도 일정한 평가를 받아야 함이 마땅하리라 본다. 본 연구는 한국교회 설교 학이 제대로 정립되지 못한 시절, 설교학이라는 학문을 한국인 최초로 전공하여 이를 한국교회에 접목하고, 한국교회 설교의 발전을 위해서 자신의 일생을 바친 청해 정장 복에 대한 학문적 조명과 그가 남긴 흔적들을 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 그에 대한 학문 적 연구나 평가가 설교학적 관점에서 이루어진 일은 아직 없다. 그러므로 본 연구는 이에 대한 하나의 시도요, 이 또한 그의 설교론에 대한 최초의 연구라 하겠다. 따라서 본 논문은 정장복의 설교론에 대한 가장 개관적이고 총론적인 성격을 갖는다. 이를 계기로 하여 앞으로 설교학자로서의 정장복에 대한 보다 세밀하고, 각론적인 후속 연 구들이 그의 후진들과 설교학계를 중심으로 진행되었으면 한다.

In February, he was called by God (February 14, 2024), who laid the foundation for the preaching of the Korean church. As a Korean and a Korean preaching scholar, his academic life and contribution, which he devoted his life to pioneering the field of preaching in the Korean church, should be evaluated not only in the field of preaching but also in the history of the Korean church. This study aims to examine the academic achievement of Dr. Chang-Bok Chung, which he devoted his life to the development of preaching in the Korean church, as well as the traces he left in the time when preaching of the Korean church was not properly established. No academic research or evaluation of him has yet been carried out from a homiletic perspective. Therefore, this study is an academical attempt at it and also the first study of his preaching theory. This paper is mostly an overview and has a general characteristic of the homiletic theory of Dr. Chang-Bok Chung. With this article as a start, I expect more detailed and specific follow-up studies on Dr. Chang-Bok Chung as a preaching scholar by his juniors and the preaching academia in the future.
