웹소설과 라이트노벨은 완전히 다른 특징을 가진 소설군임에도 서적화를 통해 교집합이 생겨나는 독특한 관계를 구축하고 있다. 웹소설의 활발한 서적화는 일본 웹소설만이 갖는 차별점이다. 본고는 이러한 일본의 웹소설과 라이트노벨에 대해 웹소설 플랫폼 ‘소설가가 되자’의 작품을 중심으로 분석했다. 본 연구는 기존의 연구가 관념적 검토에 그쳤던 한계를 극복하고 방대한 작품 데이터를 텍스트마이 닝 분석을 통해 정량분석함으로써 두 소설의 특성을 종합적으로 규명하고자 했다. 그 결과, 웹소설의 서적화는 판타지와 연애 장르 외에 문예, SF장르에서 거의 진행되지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 실제로는 다양한 장르의 웹소설이 투고되지만 서 적화는 일부 장르만을 중심으로 진행된다. 또 웹소설의 서적화에는 투고 시기 및 작품의 분량 등의 요소가 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 라이트노벨 그룹과 그 외의 서적화 그룹을 비교함으로써 라이트노벨의 특징을 규명했다. 비현실 요소가 포함된 판타지 장르의 인기 작품이자 연재 형태로 많은 분량을 가진 작품이 라이트노벨로 출판되는 경향을 발견했다. 이는 라이트노벨의 주된 출판 형태가 시리즈 간행이라는 특성을 반영한다. 그리고 키워드와 줄거리 분석을 통해 라이트노벨이 주로 남성 독자를 상정하고 있음을 확인했다. 반면, 다 른 분야로의 서적화는 연애 요소를 포함한 인기 작품이 많이 진행되었다. 그러나 라이트노벨 만큼의 많은 분량은 아니더라도 연재 작품이라면 서적화 가능성이 높 은 것으로 나타났다. 또 키워드와 줄거리 분석을 통해 라이트노벨 외의 서적화는 주로 여성을 대상으로 한 작품이 중심을 이루고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

This study analyzed Japanese web novels and light novels, focusing on works from the web novel platform ‘Shousetsuka ni Narou’. This research aimed to overcome the limitations of previous studies that were mainly theoretical by using text mining to quantitatively analyze a vast amount of work data to comprehensively identify the characteristics of both types of novels. The results revealed that the publication of web novels rarely occurs in literary and science fiction genres outside of fantasy and romance genres. Although various genres of web novels are submitted, the actual publication focuses mainly on certain genres. Additionally, factors such as the submission period and the length of the work were found to influence the publication of web novels. By comparing the light novel group with other publication groups, the characteristics of light novels were identified. It was found that popular works in the fantasy genre with unrealistic elements and serialized with a large volume tend to be published as light novels. Furthermore, keyword and plot analysis confirmed that light novels are mainly targeted at male readers. On the other hand, publications in other fields mainly involved popular works with romance elements. However, it was found that serialized works are more likely to be published, even if they do not have as much volume as light novels. Keyword and plot analysis also showed that publications other than light novels mainly target women.
