산업의 환경은 지속적으로 변화하고 있으며, 이에 따라 기업들은 변화에 대응하고 경영 성과를 유지하기 위한 전략으로 사업전환을 고려한다. 최근에는 코로나19, ESG, 미중 무역분쟁 등 거시적 환경 변화가 발생함에 따 라 더더욱 능동적인 대응이 요구되고 있다. 하지만, 대다수의 중소·중견기업들은 경영 역량의 부족으로 사업전환에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구는 특정 산업에서의 중소·중견기업 사업전환 방안을 탐색하고자 한다. 특히 최근 사업 전환이 요구되는 디스플레이 산업에서 사업전환이 필요한 부분을 식별한 후, 국가과학기술지식정보서비스(NTIS)를 활용하여 주요 기업군을 선택하였다. 이후 해당 기업들의 특허 데이터를 추출하고, 특허 인용 관계를 분석하여 사 업전환의 방향성을 도출하였다. 이러한 분석을 통해, 산업 환경 변화 대응에 있어 중소·중견기업들의 중장기적 경 영전략에 주요 정보를 제공할 것으로 판단된다. 또한, 동 방법론은 다양한 기업 및 산업에 적용될 수 있어 국가 단위의 경제 정책에 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다.

The industrial environment is constantly changing. Accordingly, firms consider business transformation as a strategy to respond to the changes. Recently, as macro environmental changes such as COVID-19, ESG, and the US-China trade dispute occur, a more proactive response is required. However, the majority of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are experiencing difficulties in business transformation due to lack of business capabilities. This study seeks to explore business transformation methods for SMEs in a specific industry. In particular, after identifying areas in need of business transformation in the display industry, major firms were selected using NTIS. Afterwards, the patent data of the relevant firms was extracted and the patent citation was analyzed to derive the direction of business transformation. Through this analysis, it is expected to provide key information for the mid- to long-term business strategies of SMEs in responding to changes in the industrial environment.
