본 연구는 비자살적 자해 사고의 강도와 지속시간이 자해 행동에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 탐색 하였다. 지난 1년 동안 자해 행동을 한 경험이 있는 성인 60명이, 하루에 1회 총 14일 동안 그날의 자해 사고 및 행동 여부, 자해 사고의 강도 및 지속시간, 사용한 자해 방법에 대한 전 자일기를 작성하였다. 그 결과 자해 사고의 강도가 높을수록, 지속시간이 짧을수록 자해를 할 가능성이 높았다. 또한 자해 사고의 강도 및 자해 사고의 강도와 지속시간의 상호작용은 사 용한 자해 방법 수와 유의한 관련을 보였다. 더불어 자해 사고의 지속시간이 짧은 것은 때리 기 자해 방법과 유의한 관련성을 보였다. 또한 참여자들은 자해에 대한 대안행동으로 잠자기, 생각 바꾸기, 다른 사람과 대화하기를 주로 보고하였다. 이러한 결과는 자해 사고의 강도와 지속시간이 자해 행동과 관련된 중요한 요인이며, 자해 사고가 행동으로 옮겨지기 전에 적극 적인 대안행동을 습득하는 것이 필요하다는 것을 시사한다.

This study explored how the intensity and duration of non-suicidal self-injury(NSSI) thoughts affects self-injury. 60 young adults with a history of NSSI completed daily surveys assessing NSSI thoughts and behaviors that day, the intensity and duration of NSSI thoughts, and the NSSI method used for two weeks. Results indicate the higher the intensity of NSSI thoughts and the shorter the duration, the higher the likelihood of NSSI behavior. NSSI thought intensity and duration interacted to predict to the number of NSSI methods. In addition, the short duration of self-injurious thoughts showed a significant relationship with the method of self-injury, which was hitting. Additionally, sleeping, changing one's mind, talking to others, were frequently reported as alternative behaviors to NSSI. These results suggest that the intensity and duration of NSSI thoughts are important factors related to self-injury behavior.
