최근 비재무적 요소인 환경, 사회, 지배구조를 의미하는 ESG의 중요성이 확대됨에 따라 국내 ESG 경영 체제화와 관련 정책이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 전국경제인연합에서 실시한 경영진 설문조사에 따르면 대다수 응답 자가 ESG의 모호한 개념과 전문지식 부족으로 인해 어려움을 호소하였고, 한국건설산업연구원의 설문에서는 응답 자 대부분이 ESG의 애로사항으로 가이드라인 부재와 사례 부족을 꼽았다. 따라서 본 연구는 건설사의 ESG 경영 확대 연구의 일환으로 건설사의 환경경영 현황을 분석하여 개선방안을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구를 통해 제시된 환경부문 정보공개 범위 확대와 전과정평가기법 도입 등의 개선방안은 건설사의 ESG 환경경영 강화를 위한 기초 전략 수립에 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

As the importance of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management continues to rise, there is a growing trend towards institutionalizing ESG management and related policies. However, surveys of executives conducted by the Federation of Korean Industries and officials from the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology have identified challenges, including vague concepts, a lack of expertise, and the absence of guidelines and examples. This study, as part of the research on expanding ESG management in construction companies, aims to analyze the current state of environmental management in these companies and propose improvement plans. These plans include expanding the scope of environmental sector information disclosure and adopting life cycle assessment techniques, which are expected to strengthen ESG environmental management in construction companies.
