전통적인 성경 해석학 이론은 본문의 객관적인 의미를 강조한다. 하지만 본 논문 은 그리스도의 몸을 세우기 위해 설교자와 회중 모두의 영성 형성에 필수적인 요소로 서 성경에 대한 변혁적 참여에 관심을 기울인다. 성경을 변혁적으로 읽는 것은 성도 들을 향한 하나님의 사랑과 궁극적으로 하나님과의 연합을 추구하는 방식으로 성령의 도우심을 통해 그리스도의 형상을 따르고자 하는 성도들의 노력에 기초한다 (고후 3:18). 설교자와 하나님과의 친밀한 관계를 통해 설교자는 본문의 객관적 의미(정보) 를 발견하고 본문의 실존적 측면(변혁)에 관하여 설교자와 회중 모두의 삶에 영향을 주게 되는 것이다. 좀 더 자세히 설명하자면, 설교자가 성경에 변혁적으로 참여한다는 것은 자신의 이성적, 인지적, 지적 능력으로 성경 본문을 탐구, 분석, 비평, 그리고 재 구성하는 것뿐만 아니라, 기도와 묵상적 대화를 통해 본문 안에 성례전적으로 거하시 는 하나님과의 만남을 이루고 독자로서 설교자의 존재 방식 전체가 변혁 될 수 있는 가능성을 수용하면서 말씀으로 나아가는 것이다. 성령의 도우심으로 그리스도안에서 하나님과의 일치를 추구하는 설교자들은 자기 자신 뿐만 아니라 자신의 신앙 공동체 가 자아를 포기하고 그 비워진 공간이 하나님의 사랑으로 채워져 마음과 영혼 그리고 뜻이 그리스도를 닮아가는 것을 소망한다. 이러한 설명을 뒷받침하기 위해, 필자는 설 교자를 위한 (1) 예비적 단계, (2) 주석적 단계, (3) 기도와 묵상적 단계, (4) 영성 형 성적 단계, 그리고 (5) 실천적 단계 등으로 구성된 성경 해석학의 총체적 접근법을 제안한다.

Traditional interpretation theory emphasizes the objective meaning of the text. This paper will be concerned with a transformative reading of the text as an essential element of the spiritual formation of the both the preacher and the congregation, to build up the body of Christ. This transformative engagement with the Scriptures is based on God's love for believers and their efforts to conform to the image of Christ through the assistance of the Holy Spirit in a way that ultimately seeks union with God (2 Cor. 3:18). Through the preacher's close relationship with God, the preacher uncovers the objective meaning of the text (information) and joins in the existential aspects of the text (transformation), influencing the live of both the preacher and the congregation. To put it more clearly, in a transformative reading of the text the preacher approaches the biblical text not only by exploring, analyzing, criticizing, and reorganizing it with the preacher’s rational, cognitive, and intellectual abilities, but also by embracing the possibility that the minister’s whole mode of being may be transformed by the encounter with the imminent presence of God, who is present sacramentally in the Word through a prayerful and meditative conversation with the divine. Preachers who pursue unity with God in Christ through the help of the Holy Spirit hope that not only themselves but also their faith communities will surrender themselves and fills the now emptied space of their hearts with the love of God, eventually becoming like Christ in mind, soul, and heart. To this end, this paper explores a holistic approach to biblical hermeneutics comprised of five steps, (1) preliminary, (2) exegetical, (3) prayerful and meditative, (4) spiritually formational, and (5) practical, for the preacher.
