수진궁은 1사4궁으로 대표되는 조선후기의 대표적인 궁방으로 후사가 없는 왕실의 제사를 담당하였다. 19세기 궁방의 운영은 왕조 재정의 일부를 담당하여 19세기 재정을 이해하는 한 축이라고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 명례궁과 함께 규모가 큰 궁방으로 궁방 재정을분석하기 위해 수진궁회계책을 데이터베이스화 하여 분석하였다. 기존 연구에서도 회계자료를 이용한 궁방연구가 있었지만 방대한 자료를 샘플링하여 분석 하다보니 수진궁의 전체적인 재정운영에 대한 이해를 하지 못한 약점이 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 수진궁 회계책에 기록된 회계내역 전체를 입력하여 수진궁 재정을 분석하였다. 그 결과 수진궁이 장기적인 과도한 적자운영 보다는 적자와 흑자를 번갈아가며 나름대로의 원리에 따라 운영되고 있음을 확인하였다. 구체적으로 수진궁은 명례궁보다 전문을 적극 활용하고 있는 점도발견했다. 유사한 기능을 가진 명례궁 재정운영과 비교를 통해 각 궁방이 각기 다른 방식으로 재원을 활용하여 수입과 지출을 진행하고 있던 사실도 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 통해향후 각 궁방의 재정이 갖는 특징을 파악하여 재정기구로서의 성격을 갖는 궁방의 특질을파악하는 비교검토 자료로 활용할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

In the late Joseon Dynasty, the palace itself grew in economic magnitude enoughto become a significantly influential financial organization. Sujin Palace played animportant role in royal ceremonies as a palace built for the ancestral rites of royalfamilies who died without descendants. Sujin Palace's finances have beenhistorically misunderstood. Most of all, it appears that too much money has beenspent solely on maintaining the authority of the failing royal family. Some opinionshold that this expenditure could have lead to the collapse of the whole dynasty. Itshould be understood that the money was not spent on unnecessary ceremoniesonly for the benefit of the royal family, but the budget was primarily spent on thevital expenses to maintain the dynasty. In addition, as a result of examining thebooks that recorded the palace's budget, the number of deficit operations increasedas the 19th century progressed, but unlike previous studies, it did not record adeficit every year and there were a surplus record, showing a different appearancedepending on the palace. In particular, statistics show that rice and coins areproperly used and financially operated, confirming that the operation of the palacewas not planned. In the future, I will use each royal palace research, including SujinPalace research, as the basis for understanding the overall operation of the royalpalace.
