지속가능성에 대한 전세계적인 관심과 열망으로 ESG 패러다임이 본격화 되었지만, ESG를 추진하는 주체들 의 진정성이 결여된 행동은 지속가능성의 온전한 성취를 저해하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 대기업집단이 출연 하여 설립한 공익법인이 창출하는 공익 성과의 진정성을 판단할 수 있는 대안을 제시한다. 대기업집단 공익법인 의 지배구조는 이해관계자들 사이의 이해충돌과 그로 인해서 발생하는 대리인 문제에 구조적으로 취약하다는 점에 착안하여, 이러한 문제가 공익법인의 공익 성과에 미치는 영향을 검토한다. 그 과정에서 공익법인이 창출 하는 ‘공익 성과’를 재정의해야 하며 이를 타당하게 측정할 수 있는 척도가 필요함을 주장하고, 공익 성과의 정 의에 따라 달라지는 분석 결과를 비교한다. 이를 통해 궁극적으로 대기업 공익법인의 공익 추구 행위의 진정성 이 실현되는 방법에 관한 이론적, 방법론적, 실무적 시사점을 제공하고자 한다.

While the worldwide interests and desires for sustainability has led to emergence of ESG paradigm, a lack of integrity of implementing ESG activities would hinder the complete achievement of sustainability. Among others, this study focuses on a governance structure of corporate foundations established by large business groups, and provides an alternative approach to assessing their integrity with regard to social performance. This study proposes that the unique structural characteristics of corporate foundations should affect their social performance. This study also proposes an alternative approach that redefines the social performance of corporate foundations and develops a measurement to capture its integrity. This study ultimately aims to provide theoretical, methodological, and practical implications for how corporate foundations realize the integrity of their social value creation.
