본 연구는 대국민 담화문의 개념화 양상을 인지언어학의 개념적 은유(Conceptual Metaphor)에 기초하여 분석하고 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 코로나19 발생 이후 정부 관계자나 정치인들은 사회 공동체의 생명, 핵심 가 치를 위협하는 상황에 체계적으로 대응해야만 했고, 국가적 재난이나 위기를 돌파하기 위해 대국민 담화문과 같은 대중을 설득하기 위한 정치 담화의 필요성이 증대되었다. 본 연구의 분석 대상이 되는 대국민 담화문은 코로나19 발생 후 정부에서 생산된 6편의 정책 연설문이며, 이를 개념적 은유를 통해 분석하여 시사점을 얻고자 한다. 본 연구의 2장에서는 대국민 담화문 및 연설문과 개념적 은유 이론으로 논의된 기존의 연구를 검토하도록 한다. 3장 에서는 대국민 담화문 가운데 내재되어 있는 개념적 은유 체계들에 대해 분석하고 논의하도록 한다. 마지막 4장에 서는 논의를 요약하고 본 연구가 가지는 의의와 한계에 대해 정리하도록 한다.

This thesis aims to investigate the conceptualization of political speeches delivered to the public through the lens of conceptual metaphor. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, government officials and politicians have been required to provide systematic responses to protect the lives and key values of society. This has led to an increased need for political national addresses to persuade the public during national disasters or crises. The focus of this paper is to analyze six parts of policy national addresses produced by the government in response to the onset of Covid-19, and to explore conceptual metaphors embedded within these statements. Chapter two reviews existing literature on national addresses, speeches, and conceptual metaphors. Chapter three provides an analysis of conceptual metaphor systems employed in political speeches. Finally, chapter four summarizes the findings and limitations of this study.
