The metaverse has become popular to be regarded as the next chapter of the Internet. As the competition among metaverse platforms (e.g., Roblox, The Sandbox) has also become fierce, platforms are attempting to invite 3rd party developers to create virtual properties in their platforms. Although their choice of metaverse platforms can affect the sustainability of platforms in the nascent stage of the metaverse, there is scant knowledge on their evaluation of platforms. The objective of this study is to explore factors influencing developers’, also called metaverse creators’, evaluation of metaverse platforms. By using an analytic hierarchy processing (AHP), the study not only examines the weights of three criteria, including market attractiveness, technological readiness, and platform readiness, but also investigated developers’ ultimate choice of specific platforms. The study contributes to improving our understanding of the current metaverse ecosystem.
