본 연구의 목적은 미술치료전공 석사과정생이 호스피스 완화의료 현장실습에서 어떤 경험을 하며, 그 경험 의 의미와 본질이 무엇인지를 탐구하여 현장실습을 통한 참여자들의 경험을 심층적으로 이해하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 Max van Manen의 해석학적 현상학적 방법론을 적용하였고 6명의 미술치료 전공생을 연구 참여자로 선정하여 자료를 수집하였다. 자료수집은 2021년 2월부터 6월까지 5개월 동안 1차 언어적 심층면담과 2차 미술 작업 면담을 통해 이루어졌으며, 자료분석 결과 8개의 본질적 주제와 20개의 하위 주제가 도출되었고, 이를 바탕으로 내린 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미술치료전공 석사과정생은 호스피스·완화의료의 특수한 분위기에 압도되어 위축감이나 불안감을 느끼는 등 부정적 경험을 한다. 둘째, 미술치료전공 석사과정생은 예기치 않은 코로나-19 상황에서 감염 관리에 대한 압박으로 부담과 긴장을 호소하였다. 셋째, 미술치료전공 석사과정생은 미술이 다리가 되어 호스피스 완화의료 환자를 도울 수 있다 는 것을 발견한다. 넷째, 미술치료전공 석사과정생은 호스피스 완화의료 환자와의 만남을 통해 깊이 있는 시각으로 자신과 세상을 바라보며 현재에 집중하는 삶을 실천한다. 본 연구는 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 코로나19와 호스피스라는 특수한 상황의 실습경험이 실습생에게 어려움을 주는 동시에 자신을 스스로 도울 수 있도록 자원을 발견하는 경험을 한다.

This study aims to understand the participants’ experiences in-depth through exploring hospice palliative care field practice by master‘s students and understanding the meaning and essence of the experience. For this purpose, data were collected from six research participants who were students taking up art therapy. Data were initially collected through verbal interviews and was later collected through art work interviews for five months from February to June 2021. As a result,nine main topics and 23 sub-topics were derived. The conclusion sare as follows: First, master‘s students taking up art therapy have negative experiences, such as feeling rejected due to patients who refuse to attend the sessions and feeling discouraged during the therapy session due to the overwhelming distinctive mood of hospice·palliative care. Second, master‘s students taking up art therapy were afraid of termination of practical exercises, and felt burden and anxiety from the pressure of infection control, every time the level of social distancing was raised amidst the unpredictable COVID-19 situation. Third, master‘s degree students taking up art therapy discovered the possibility to connect and help hospice palliative care patients through art Fourth, master‘s students taking up art therapy practiced living a life focused on the present while looking at themselves and the world with an in-depth perspective through meetings with hospice palliative care patients. Based on these research results, this study is significant in that it suggests that practical field experience in art therapy for hospice palliative care may cause difficulties for trainees, but it can also help trainees through providing various resources to overcome and grow.
