This study compared and analyzed the English translations of No Apology and Hysteria in Kim Yideum's collection of poems Hysteria. In particular, the translation of anger emotions was intensively analyzed based on Lakoff & Kövecses’ ‘cognitive models’ and ‘Prototypical Anger Scenario.’ In the original work of Kim Yideum, the poetic narrator shows a habitual attitude to control herself by prioritizing external situations over internal emotions, solidarity with the suspect, and compliance with the sense of defeat. However, the speaker in the English translation works shows the characteristics of an immediate expression of one's emotions and a direct explosion. The narrator has an attitude of expressing anger, protesting, and punishing society that contradicts unreasonable situations, and focuses on her situation and emotional changes rather than considering external situations or harmonizing with others and society. A more detailed and deeper understanding of Kim Yideum’s poetry world in the context of the moral values, and gender characteristics of Koreans will allow new perspectives to emerge from translated works.
