Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, various research has been conducted regarding racial discrimination. However, only a few research has focused on the discrimination against the Asian population that escalated due to the pandemic. This study addresses the negative sentiment towards the Asian population during the coronavirus pandemic. The research analyzes considerable amounts of Tweets from Verified Twitter accounts and Media channels’ accounts to compare the reactions of racially targeted tweets and racially oriented tweets. The study attempts to discover the effect of those verified accounts on general user sentiments towards Asian population. The study finds that negative sentiments of Tweets do not actually lead to racist behaviors.
