본고는 1920~30년대에 ‘농민’이 근대화의 중심으로 주목되고, ‘농민 계몽’ 이 일어난 실제적 모습이 ‘농민잡지’를 통해 드러나며, 농민잡지에는 시, 소 설, 희곡, 수필과 같은 문학 텍스트들이 수록되어 ‘농민문학’을 형성한 의의를 추적해보고자 했다. 특히 농민잡지의 발행 주체별 인식 차와 농민문학론 의 입장 차를 중심으로 기독교계 『농민생활』과 천도교 『조선농민』을 비교 고 찰하였다. 이번 연구에서는 문학 텍스트에 대한 구체적인 분석은 다음으로 미루고, 두 농민잡지의 창간사와 논설, 비평 등을 검토하여 종교별, 지역별 창간 의도와 농민문학론을 밝혀보고자 했다. 연구 결과로 기독교계 『농민생 활』은 기독교적 선교와 전도가 반영된 기계적, 개량주의적 근대인식과 계몽 시론이 반영되고 있으며, 천도교 『조선농민』은 자주적, 민족주의적 근대인식과 프롤레타리아 농민문학론이 개진되어 있음을 알 수 있다.

Farmers were the center of modernization in the 1920s and 30s, and the actual appearance of “Farmers Enlightenment” was revealed through “Farmers Magazines”, which contained literary texts such as poems, novels, plays, and essays. In particular, Christianity Farmers’ Life and Cheondogyo, a religion which began during the last years of the Joseon Dynasty, Joseon Farmers were compared and considered, focusing on the difference between the perception of each publisher and the theory of peasnat literature. In this study, the detailed analysis of literary texts was postponed until the next time, and the two farmers’ magazines were reviewed for their founding, editorial, and criticism to reveal the theory of peasant literature. In response, Farmers’ Life reflected the mechanical and improvement modern perception and enlightenment theory that reflect Christian missionary work and evangelism, while Joseon Farmers showed independent and nationalistic modern perception and proletarian literature.
