오늘날 아베 및 일본의 우경화 속에 최악을 치닫고 있는 한일관계에서 일본 우경화의 근본적 전환과 올바른 한일관계 정립의 방향모색이 시급하다. 이런 상황에서 우치무라 간조는 침략과 전쟁이 아닌 화합과 평화의 사상과 실천력을 갖춘 근대 일본의 양심으로서 오늘날 한일 간 화합과 평화를 모색할 때 과거 역사 속의 한․일 화해와 화합인물로서 다시 발굴 검토해야 한다고 본다. 우치무라 사상에는 그의 독자적 기독교사상과 국가관 세계관이 내포되어 있어서 한국인 제자인 김교신, 함석헌의 기독교사상에도 큰 영향을 주었다. 즉 그들은 일제강점기 하에서 우치무라의 영향을 받아 기독교적 민족 주체성을 확립하여 독립운동까지 전개하였기에 그들의 사상과 행동 속에 우치무라와의 화합행보를 확인할 수 있다. 천황제국가주의와도 평생 몸부림치며 싸웠던 우치무라의 양심적 행보를 오늘날 다시 부활하는 일본의 우경화, 국가주의 극복방안으로도 살펴봐야 한다고 생각한다.

The Japan-Korea relations falling into its lowest ebb amid the ever intensifying conservative move of Abe government and Japan calls for stemming Japan’s conservative leaning and putting the bilateral relations on the right footing. Against this backdrop, Uchimura Kanjo, who fought for harmony and peace as a conscience of modern Japan deserves scrutiny as we try to seek reconciliation and peace between Japan and Korea. His unique philosophy anchored in Christianity encompassing his view of a nation and the world had a great impact on the Christian philosophies of Korean thinkers such as Kyoshin Kim and Seok Hum Ham. Those Korean thinkers even participated in independence movement under the Japanese colonial rule, which testifies to the influence of Uchimura. In this respect, Uchimura, who fought throughout his life against the nationalism in the imperial Japan merits our attention as a source of inspiration in our efforts to check the reemerging nationalism of Japan.

今日、阿部及び日本の右傾化の中、最惡の狀況にある韓日關係の正しい定立と方向の摸索が重要である。內村鑑三は侵略と戰爭ではなく、和合と平和の實踐力を伴った近代日本の良心として、今日の韓日間の和合と平和を摸索する時、過去歷史の中の韓日和解と和合の實踐人物として、新しく發掘、檢討すべきであると思う。 內村鑑三の思想には、獨自的基督敎思想と國家觀、世界觀が含まれており、韓國人の弟子である金敎臣、咸錫憲の基督敎思想にも大きい影響を与えた。彼等は日帝强占期、內村の影響を受け、基督敎的民族主體性を確立しながら獨立運動を展開した爲、彼等の思想と行動の中に內村との和合を確認することができる。 天皇制國家主義と生涯、身を持って鬪った內村の良心と行動を、今日、再び復活する日本の右傾化、國家主義の克服方案として、再檢討すべきであると思う。
