본 연구는 음악극 만들기가 중증 지적장애 청소년의 집행기능에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 연구 참여 자는 B시에 소재한 특수교육센터를 이용하는 중증 지적장애 청소년 16명이며, 실험집단과 대조집단으로 각각 8명씩 무선배치 하였다. 실험집단은 음악극 만들기로 극의 흐름과 내용의 전개에 따라 노래 부르기, 가사 토의, 악기 연주, 노래-악기 동시 연주, 실연을 단계별로 구성한 활동을 주 2회, 50분씩, 총 12회기 진행하 였다. 대조집단에는 동시간대에 센터에서 시행하는 독서 프로그램을 제공하였다. 집행기능 측정을 위해 스트 룹(Stroop) 검사와 아동 색 선로(CCTT) 검사를 사전-사후에 실시한 결과, 실험집단은 대조집단에 비해 두 검사 모두 점수에 유의한 향상을 보였다. 특히, 난이도에 따라 단계별로 제시된 음악극 만들기는 참여자들의 내적 동기와 자발성을 높여 자신의 역할을 학습하고 체득하는 데에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 이는 음악극 만들기가 중증 지적장애 청소년의 집행기능 향상에 효과적인 중재가 될 수 있음을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of making a musical drama on the executive function of adolescents with severe intellectual disabilities. The participants included sixteen adolescents with severe intellectual disabilities, who were randomly allocated to control and experimental groups with eight in each. The experimental group participated in twelve 50-minute sessions twice a week of making a musical drama program, which consisted of singing, lyric discussion, playing musical instruments, singing while playing instruments, and real performance according to the flow and content of the drama. In comparison, the control group participated in twelve 50-minute reading-book sessions. The executive function was measured using the Stroop Color and Word Test and Children’s Color Trails Test (CCTT) before and after making a musical drama program. As a result, the experimental group showed significant improvements in both tests compared to the control group. In particular, making the presented musical drama in stages according to the degree of difficulty had a positive effect on learning and acquiring their roles by increasing internal motivation and spontaneity of participants. The findings imply that making a musical drama program could be an effective intervention to improve the executive function of adolescents with severe intellectual disabilities.
