의원들의 이념은 당론이탈 투표에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가? 기존 연구들은 좌-우 이념성향, 이념의 강도, 정당과의 이념적 거리라는 서로 다른 이념 변수들로 당론이탈 투표율에미치는 효과를 추정해왔다. 이렇게 상이한 이념 변수의 측정은 이념과 당론이탈 투표와의관계를 효과적으로 논의하기 어렵게 만든다. 본 연구는 20대 국회 전반기에 표결된 모든안건들을 수집하여 당론이탈 투표율을 측정한 뒤, 이에 영향을 미치는 이념 변수들의 효과를 비교분석 한다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 소속 정당과의 관계를 고려하지 않은좌-우 이념성향은 당론이탈 투표 모형에서 적절하지 않다. 둘째, 이념의 강도와 정당과의이념거리는 당론이탈 투표 모형에서 중요한 변수로 작용하며 두 변수는 이념성향보다 당론이탈 투표에 대한 설명력이 높다. 셋째, 당론이탈 투표율에 유의미한 영향을 미친다고알려진 경선의 효과는 이념의 강도와 정당의 이념거리가 포함된 모형에서 통계적 유의성이사라졌다. 본 연구는 의원들의 당론이탈 투표에 영향을 미치는 변수들의 영향력을 보다 정확하게 추정하기 위해서 적절한 이념변수를 고려할 필요성이 있다는 점을 제시한다.

How does the ideology of the congressmen affect the party defection voting? Existing studies have estimated the effect on party defection voting with different variables of ideology, such as left-right ideology, the intensity of ideology, and ideological distance from the party. These different measurements of ideology variables make it difficult to discuss the relationship between ideology and party defection voting effectively. This study collects all the agendas voted in the first half of the 20th National Assembly, measures the party defection voting rate, and compares and analyzes the effects of ideology variables affecting it. The analysis results are as follows. First, the left-right ideology variable without considering relations with the party is not appropriate in the party defection voting model. Second, we found that both the intensity of ideology and ideological distance from the party are important variables in the party defection voting model, and the two variables have more explanatory power for party defection voting than left-right ideology. Third, the competition of primary variables showed no statistically significant influence in the model included the intensity of ideology and ideological distance from the party variables. This study suggests that it is necessary to consider appropriate variables of ideology in order to more accurately estimate the influence of explanatory variables that influence the party defection voting of legislators.
