이 연구의 목적은 태권도 경기 심판이 가져야 할 윤리의식의 본질적 구조를 파악하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 Carolyn E. Thomas(1986)가 제시한 세 가지 규범의 범주를 기준으로 고찰을 하고 논의하였다. 이 연구를 요약하면 다음과 같 다. 우리가 윤리적 행위를 하게 하는 규범은 법률, 도덕, 직무규범이다. 이것은 스포츠 윤리의 준거의 틀이 된다고 할 수 있다. 법률은 스포츠를 행하는 목적과 행위의 기준을 정해 주는 것이다. 도덕은 스포츠를 행하는 사람들이 행하는 도리 로서 실천해야 하는 근본으로서 이치이다. 직무규범은 규칙이라고 하는 직무에 대한 무게 중심을 갖고서 판단할 수 있는 가치관이다. 태권도 경기 심판 윤리의 근본 목적과 방향성은 스포츠 윤리와 같은 맥락에서 출발하여 실행된다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 이유로 태권도 경기 심판의 윤리의식에 대한 이해는 스포츠 윤리를 근간으로 한 공정성, 책임감, 사명감이 라고 할 수 있다. 이는 태권도 경기에서 판정에 앞서 가져야 할 심판의 근본의식이며 자질이라고 할 수 있다. 태권도 경기 심판의 판정은 심판의 윤리인 공정성, 책임감, 사명감을 근간으로 하여 공평성, 일관성, 엄격성, 정확성, 객관성 등이 내 재해 의식작용을 거치는 과정으로 이루어진다. 따라서 태권도 경기 심판 윤리의식의 핵심은 태권도 경기에서 일어나게 될 의식의 갈등을 결정짓기에 적합한 판단을 내릴 수 있게 하는 마음상태로서 신념이라고 할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to understand the essential structure of ethical consciousness that Taekwondo game referees should have. For this, we examined the three categories of norms proposed by Carolyn E. Thomas (1986). This study is summarized as follows. The norms for our ethical conduct are law, morality, and job norms. This can be said to be a framework for the reference of sports ethics. The law determines the purpose of doing sports and the standard of action. Morality is a fundamental principle to be practiced by those who practice sports. Job norms are values that can be judged with the center of gravity of jobs called rules. The basic purpose and direction of Taekwondo competition referee ethics can be said to be started from the same context of sports ethics. For this reason, the understanding of the ethics of Taekwondo competition referee is fairness, responsibility and mission based on sports ethics. This is the basic consciousness and qualities of judgments to be made prior to the judgment in Taekwondo competition. The judgment of the Taekwondo competition referee is based on the ethics of judgment, fairness, responsibility and sense of duty, and consists of the processes of consciousness inherent in fairness, consistency, strictness, accuracy and objectivity. Therefore, the core of the Taekwondo competition referee ethics is the belief that it is a state of mind that enables us to make appropriate judgments to determine the conflict of consciousness that will occur in Taekwondo competition.
