본 연구의 목적은 영국 주택 보건 안전 등급 시스템의 효용성에 대해 살펴보고, 한국 사회으로 그 적용 가능성을 살펴보는 데에 있다. 이를 위해 전문가 인터뷰와 함께 2차 설문자료를 사용하였고, 해당 설문자료는 영국 내 160에서 180개 지방정부의 응답을 바탕으로 했다. 그 결과, 한국사회로의 성공적인 적용을 위해서는 충분한 시간과 자금의 투자, 시민들의 주거환경에 대한 인식 전환, 그리고 각계 각층 전문가들과의 협업이 동반되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.

This research aims to value Housing Health and Safety Rating System(HHSRS) of the UK in order to utilize it and to improve health and safety condition of poor properties in South Korea. The research conducted elite interviews with regard to HHSRS in the UK and reviewed the survey data obtained by CIEH in 2011 and private firms in 2015. The findings of these studies are as follows; the success of HHSRS in Korea will heavily rely on time and funding provided by the government. In addition, professionals in diverse fields will be required to play a pivotal role of maintaining the quality of HHSRS. The general public also need to change their viewpoint regarding to properties fundamentally from the purpose of investment to the quality of living it provides.
