본 연구의 목적은 중년기에 대학원에 입학한 여성의 미술치료학 석사과정에 대한 체험의 의미와 본질은 무엇인지 이해하는 것이다. 연구의 참여자는 중년기에 대학원에 입학하여 미술치료학 석사과정 중에 있는 여성 10명이다. 연구의 자료는 2016년 6월 20일부터 22일까지 2그룹으로 나누어 포커스 그룹 인터뷰 방법(focus group interview)으로 수집하였다. 수집된 자료를 질적 분석한 결과, 95개의 의미단위를 뽑았고 이를 범주화하고 통합하여 24개의 하위주제와 7개의 본질적 주제를 도출하였다. 이에 중년기에 대학원에 입학한 여성의 미술치료학 석사과정 체험에 대한 의미와 본질은 <삶을 극복하고 전문성을 갖추고자 공부를 시작함>, <나이 들어 공부하는 비애>, <가족에 대한 미안함과 서운함, 그리고 고마움>, <진솔한 친구와 진정한 나를 만남>, <삶의 경험이 미술치료 공부에 도움 됨>, <나, 가족, 타인에 대한 변화가 생김>, <내 존재의 의미와 삶의 희망을 가짐>이다. 이상의 결과를 통해 중년기에 대학원에 입학한 여성의 미술치료학 석사과정에 대해 체험된 의미를 있는 그대로 이해할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study was to understand the meaning and essence of experiences with a master's course in art therapy among middle-aged women that entered a graduate school. The subjects include ten middle-aged women that entered a graduate school and were taking a master's course in art therapy. Data were collected with the focus group interview method on June 20-22, 2016 after the subjects were divided into two groups. The qualitative analysis results of collected data show that there were 95 meaning units, which were categorized and integrated into 24 subtopics and seven essential topics. It was thus found that the meaning and essence of experiences with a master's course in art therapy among the middle-aged women that entered a graduate school included , , , , , and . Through these result, we could understand the meaning with a master's course in art therapy among middle-aged women that entered a graduate school.
