이 논문은 일본인의 기원 연구에 있어서, 일본 선주민과 한반도 도래인이 혼혈하여 일본인이 형성되었다는 ‘한반도 도래설’의 원조로서 ‘경성학파 인류학’의 실상을 살펴보고, 그 학설사적 의미를 검토하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. ‘경성학파 인류학파’는 일제강점기에는 조선인의 동화정책이 뒷받침되어 인류학계에서 주류학설의 지위를 확보했으나 한국 독립 후에는 비주류 학설로서의 지위를 감수해야만 했다. 연구가 진전됨에 따라 ‘한반도 도래설’이 다시 조명되었는데도 경성학파 인류학은 제대로 된 평가를 받지 못하였다. 그 배경에는 한국인과 다른 일본인만의 정체성을 유지하려는 민족주의와 침략사상이었던 ‘일선동조론’의 재탕으로 간주되는 것을 회피 하려는 심리가 깔려 있는 듯하다.

This paper aims to consider the significance of the history of theory by reviewing the origin of the Japanese people as it was perceived by "Kyeongseong school of anthropology". This group of scholars can be considered as the originator of the theory of migration from the Korean peninsula in regard to the origin of the Japanese. The "Kyeongseong school of anthropology" held an exclusive place in the mainstream theory of the anthropology world during the era of Korea under the rule of Japanese imperialism, but they had to submit to the positions of non-mainstream theory after Korean independence. As the field of antrophological study was developed, the theory of migration from the Korean peninsula in regard to the origin of the Japanese was revalued, but this did not happen in a proper way It seems that this is hindered by a psychology that tries to evade that the theory is being regarded as a rehash of the so-called "Common Ancestory Theory(Il-seon dongjoron)", an ill-reputed thought of invasion.

この論文は、日本人の起源研究において、日本先住民と朝鮮半島からの渡来人が混血して日本人が形成されたという「朝鮮半島渡来説」の元祖としての「京城学派人類学」の実際を調べ、その学説史的意味を検討することを目的にした。「京城学派人類学」は日帝強制占領期間には朝鮮人の同化政策にうらづけされて人類学界で主流学説の位置を確保したが、韓国独立後には非主流学説としての位置を甘受しなければならなかった。研究が進むにつれて朝鮮半島渡来説は再評価されたが、京城学派人類学は正当な評価を受けることはなかった。その背景には韓国人と違う日本人だけのアイデンティティを維持しようという民族主義と、侵略思想だった「日鮮同祖論」の焼き直しと見なされることを回避しようとする心理があると思われる。
