본 연구는 노자의 『道德經』에 비춰본 스포츠아마추어리즘에 대한 연구로서 첫째, 무위자연(無爲自然)과 도덕적 자발성으로서의 스포츠아마추어리즘 둘째, 무욕(無慾)과 만족(滿足) 그리고 겸손(謙遜)으로서의 스포츠아마추어리 즘을 살펴본 것이다. 노자(老子), 『道德經』에서 의미하는 스포츠아마추어리즘은 절학(絶學)과 무위(無爲)로서 스스 로 터득하고 이를 통해 몰입과 즐김의 경계까지 갈 수 있도록 하는 하나의 길(道)이다. 한편, 도덕경의 상선약수(上善若 水)는 ‘물의 도(道)’로서 과거 스포츠아마추어들이 그렇게 강조한 겸손의 미덕이다. 이 역시 『道德經』에서 찾은 스포츠 아마추어리즘이다. 스포츠가 계속하여 건전하고 즐거움을 줄 수 있고 본래의 정체성을 가지려면 스포츠산업과 스포츠 과학의 자본주의･승리주의로부터 벗어나 스포츠의 본질적 자유와 도덕적 자발성 그리고 무욕, 만족, 겸손의 미덕이라 는 『道德經』의 교훈(敎訓)을 간과해서는 안 될 것이다.

This study is a study on Sports Amateurism which is based on 'Tao-te Ching' of 'Lao-tzu'. First, it refers to Sports Amateurism as a nature of inexperience and moral spontaneity. Second, it is about sports amateurism as freedom from avarice, satisfaction, and humility. Sports Amateurism, which means 'Tao-te Ching' in 'Lao-tzu', learns for itself as 'to stop learning' and 'to do nothing'. And it is a way to go to the border of immersion and enjoyment. On the other hand, 'Tao-te Ching' is 'the road of water', 'the greatest greatness is like water'. This is the virtue of humility that sports amateurs in the past have emphasized. Humility is also the Sports Amateurism found in 'Tao-te Ching'. Sports must be able to continue to be healthy and enjoyable for humans. In order for sports to have its original identity, it must be free from the sports industry, sports science, capitalism and victory. The essential freedoms of sport, moral spontaneity, and virtue of passion, satisfaction, and humility are the lessons of Tao-te Ching.
