본 논문에서는 재즈 음악의 특징이라 할 수 있는 재즈 보컬의 즉흥연주 즉, 스캣의 연습 및 연출을 코드의 근음과 코드 톤을 응용한 접근 방법으로 제안하였다. 스캣은 악보에 표기 되어 있는 가사와 멜로디를 가창하지 않고 의미 없는 음절인 스캣 실러블을 이용하여 가창자의 역량에 맞추어 재창조한 음들로 솔로를 구사 한다. 이를 위해 코드의 근음을 이용하는 것은 재즈 보컬이 음악적 선율을 구성해 가는데 중요한 기준점이 된다. 가창 자는 그 기준점을 발전시켜 단순한 스캣에서 부터 점차 발전적이고 복잡한 구조의 스캣을 구사하며 다양한 음악적 표현과 교감을 표출할 수 있다. 즉흥연주로 연출하고자 하는 곡의 코트 톤 구성부터 베이스 라인의 연출과 베이스 스캣 그리고 코드 톤 아르페지오의 분석과 표현까지 스탠더드 재즈곡 ‘올 오브 미’를 중심으로 음악을 기능적으로 분석해 보았다. 본 논문에서는 다소 난해 하고 복잡해 보일 수 있는 재즈 보컬의 즉흥연주 또한 점진적인 접근 방법을 통해 비교적 손쉽게 구성 할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

In this thesis, Improvisation of Jazz Vocal that can be characterized as Jazz music, namely practice of Scat suggest that way of applied approach that root position of chord and chord tones. Scat plays a solo using reproduced tunes of meaningless scat syllable that is not use the lyrics and melodies, which are written in a score. For this, Using the root position of chord is a reference point that Jazz vocal constructs a musical melody. Singing person can deve lop that reference point from simple scat to develop increasingly complex scat and can express that musical expression and communion. It analyzed the music functionally with a standard Jazz music 'All of me' as the center from com position of chord tone that improvise song to bass line, bass scat, analysis of chord tones arpeggio and expression. In this thesis, the improvisation of a Jazz vocal that may seem somewhat abstruse and complex could be relatively easy to construct through a gradual approach.
