이 연구는 새로운 e-sports(모바일게임), Pokemon GO의 장단점을 살펴보고 향후 Pokemon GO에 대한 방안 에 대한 담론이다. 그동안 e-sports는 전자기기의 게임으로써 신체활동과 ‘대면 커뮤니케이션(face-to-face communication)’이 부재한 가운데 게임을 즐겼다. 따라서 여러 가지 부작용이 발생하였다. 그러나 새롭게 등장한 Pokemon GO는 증강현실(Augmented Reality, AR), 즉 가상과 현실의 융합이므로 신체활동과 사람과의 만남이 있어 야만 게임을 할 수 있다. 신체활동이 수반되어야 하는 Pokemon GO는 기존의 e-sports와 다른 첨단과학과 게임이 어 우러진 새로운 문화이다. 우리나라는 e-sports의 강국이며 또한 IT강국이다. Pokemon GO의 열기와 경제적 차원에 서 볼 때 결코 단순한 게임이 아니다. 또한 Pokemon GO를 단순한 유행으로만 보는 것도 오류이다. Pokemon GO를 통 해 대한민국은 e-sports강국은 물론 스포츠산업으로도 지향해야 할 것이다.

This study is a study of Pokemon GO as a new e-sports (mobile game). First, this study examined the advantages and disadvantages of e-sports and Pokemon GO. Next, this study discussed the prospects and plans of the Pokemon GO. Until now, e-sports (games on electronic devices) did not have physical activity and face-to-face communication. For this reason, e-sports have had many adverse effects. However, the newly appeared Pokemon GO is a game of Augmented Reality(AR). In other words, there is a physical activity and meeting with people as a harmony of virtual and reality. Pokemon GO is a game that can have physical activity. This is different from Pokemon GO and conventional e-sports. Korea is an advanced country in e-sports and information technology(IT). The popularity and economic effects of Pokemon GO can never be seen simply as a game. It is also a mistake to see Pokemon GO as a mere fashion. Through Pokemon GO, Korea should pursue sports industry as well as developed countries of e-sports.
