동일본대지진 이후 일본의 상황과 향후 변화에 대하여 다양한 분야에서 논의가 전개되었고, 영화제작자들은 다큐멘터리와 극영화를 통해 재난 이후의 삶에대하여 메시지를 전달하였다. 여러 가지 비판 속에서도 관객들에게 전하고자 했던 메시지는 어떤 것이었을까? 이를 파악하기 위해 동일본대지진과 후쿠시마 원전 사고를 직접적인 배경이나 상황으로 설정한 극영화 다섯 편을 분석하였다. 영화 속 주인공의 내러티브상 대립관계를 찾아내고 이를 바탕으로 메시지를 이끌어내고 일본사회에서의함의에 대하여 고찰하였다. 메시지의 주조는 전후시대로 불리는 기존의 가치관과 삶의 방식으로부터의 변화이고, 구체적으로는 주체적 개인의 확립, 가족과공동체의 소중함, 사회적 시스템의 변혁 등을 들 수 있다. 이것은 재난 이후에늘 그래왔듯이 위로와 힘을 내자는 슬로건이 아니라 공(公)과 사(私)의 융합을통해 개인이 평화로운 삶을 영위할 수 있는 기반을 만들고자 하는 의도로 파악된다.

There have been many discussions from various field on the situation and change of Japan after the East Japan Earthquake, and Japanese filmmakers have sent messages to Japanese people through documentary and fiction films. What is the message for Japanese filmmakers to send in spite of many criticism? To find out that message, I analyzed 5 Japanese fiction films of which setting is the East Japan Earthquake or Fukushima nuclear disaster. I catched the messages through antagonistic relationship of main characters in the films, and examined the meanings in Japan society. The main trend of that messages is the change from existing values and way of life called postwar generation. To be concrete those are establishment of independent individual, preciousness of family and community, change of social system. Those are not slogans which has been that way ever since after disasters as like comfort or cheer up, but the purpose to make basis for individual to be able to lead peaceful life through balance in public and private matters.
