건축분야의 남북교류를 위해서는 북한의 건축에 대한 구체적이고 전문적인 지식과 분석이 필요하며 그 기반으로서 북한건축에 대한 자료의 다양한 비평이 필요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 북한의 ‘건축예술론 책자가 가지는 개념체계와 그 주변의 맥락적인 의미에 대한 비평적 분석을 통하여 북한건축의 개념적 체계를분석하고자 한다. 연구의 방법은 기존의 문헌을 조사 분석하는 것으로 먼저 접근하였다. 연구의 범위는 북한의 ‘건축예술론’을 중심으로 북한건축의 개념적 흐름을 최근의 문헌을 중심으로 고찰하여 보고자 하였다. 결론은 다음과 같다. 1) 남북한 간의 건축교류 준비는 필수적이다. 2) 북한의 현실에 대한 합리적인 이해가 필요하다. 3) 북한의 ‘건축예술론’이 가지는 의도와 그 결과로서의 건축물에 대한 의미 분석이 먼저 이루어져야 한다.

The knowledge and analysis of North Korean architecture are required in detail to prepare South and North architectural exchange in near future. Therefore, critical review of North Korean architectural philosophy is essential. The purpose of this research is to perform contextual and background analysis of the book named ‘About the architecture’ to investigate hidden political background of the North Korean architecture. The conclusions are achieved as followings : 1) The preparation of architectural exchange is indispensible. 2) Reasonable understanding of North Korean reality is essential. 3) The book of ‘About the architecture’represents the political propaganda of DPRK’s socialist regime which should be carefully reviewed conceptually in background.
